Gum Package – Culminating
a) What is the feeling you wanted your gum package to portray? How did you achieve this? I wanted a very clean cut gum pack. I was aming for elegance with an edge. I wanted the gum to feel sophisticated.
b) Who are you targeting your gum to? How did you achieve this? My gum was targeted to an older age group, some one who maybe from 30 -50 yrs old. It is a gum that you can take out and make people think. “Oh wow, that’s pretty sophisticated and mature” I achieved this by using very neutral colours. I stuck with black and grey with a hint of pink to show the gum flavour.
c) What area in your design did you use Photoshop? I designed the whole background on photoshop. I used various brushes, layers and tranparencies to achieve the background.
d) More marks are given to designs that are custom created and not just taken from freevectors or free stock photography. What part of your gum package did you custom design? I cutomed design everything on the gumpack except for the nutrition facts.
Layer Mask – Task 7
What happens when you paint part of the layer mask
…black? …white? …grey?
When I painted part black, the top layer is removed to reveal the bottom. The white makes the top layer re-appear. The grey is used to make it opaque.
Self Portrait – Assignment 2
Losing Myself
a) What were you trying to express and how did you achieve this?
I was trying to express the feeling I get when I “forget” who I am. The feeling of losing myself is almost the same as feeling disappointed so I played with that emotion. For me disappointment is a blue feeling and being lost seems grey-like. So I used the gradiet tool to apply those colour to my background, which is a picture of a rainy day. Rainy days are also associated with the whole sad feeling. I tried to achieve this by using sketchy lines and blurred transparent like visions.
b) What filters did you use and where?
I used the angle fileter on the hand to the left The right hand was filtered by pencil crayon. I used the glass filter on the bottom right picture.
c) What layer blending mode did you use and where?
I used the luminosity lay blend mode on the background to let the blue grey gradient apply itself to the picture.
d) What special brush did you use and where?
Around the picture of a younger me I used special brush 39.
Photo Editing Challange – Task 6
Before After
This was fairly a simple task, I used the magnetic lasso to trace the eye and copy it. I then pasted it on the opposite side; I used the free transformation tool to rotate. Finally I made it look more natural using the cloning tool.

This one was a little more challenging because making a face look natural is hard. First I copied exactly one hald of her face. I then pasted it on the torn part and flipped it. The face look too symmetrical so I erased parts need the forehead and cheek. To get the rest of the paper I copied a piece and pasted it. I then streched it to fit. I blured unnecessary line and used the cloning tool to fix up some colour variations.
Born Into Brothels – Task 5
1) How did you enjoy the film? What stood out for you?
I really enjoyed watching this film. It was such an eye openner for me. When I think of India I think of wholesomeness, good values and innocence. I always pictured the people of India very tradtional, this film showed me just the opposite. The part where the two mothers were cussing infront of the child stood out. The pure vulgerness of the parents was such a shocker.
2) Did you learn anything new about photography, life, people? What?
I learned some new stuff. I learned that it doesn’t matter how good your camera is, you can take amazing pictures with the worst of cameras. Life isn’t fair; change doesn’t come about easily. People are ignorant and unless we strive for change we will be stuck. This movie thought me many lessons.
3) How do you think the world needs to change?
How important is this?
There are so many problems in the world, I don’t know where to begin. I believe that change has to occur with children. We are the future and if we don’t learn differently we are bound to make mistakes from the past. Children need to be more educated and aware.
4) What are you willing to do TODAY to be a part of that change?
To be part of that change I am willing to take the steps to become educated and aware myself. I live a very good life in this bubble. I know very little about the rest of the world. I can’t really change the world if I am not sure what needs to be changed.

A non-profit organizatiton that is important to me it oneXone. It’s a local organization that helps children in Canada and across the globe. 7) What ideas do you have for media arts projects that we could do individually or as a class to help contribute to these organizations that are important to us?
Our class is producing some great work. We can apply our knowledge and design posters, shirts, buttons, etc and sell them. The money made would then be donated to organizations we find most important.
Magazine Cover – Assignment 1

a) What qualities of your magazine cover make it effective? (eg. What makes it eye catching?, What about it promotes curiosity?, How is it visually pleasing?, What makes it easy to understand?)
The biggest quality I tried to play off of was using contrast. I used bright colours on a dark background. It’s eye catching because when you look at this you can Cleary see that my focal points are the title and the picture. It promotes curiosity because it has that sense of mystery. It makes you want to know what’s the story behind the picture which then in turn would make you pick up the magazine. Visually it’s pleasing because its neat, clean and not to busy. It’s easy to understand because I made sure that the writing was legible on the background.
